Reflections of James Mix

The hurt will lessen, the joy is coming.  The peace is there! Being at peace with yourself is a
direct result of finding peace with God.

And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds
through Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7)

What sunshine is to flowers, smiles are to
humanity.  They are but trifles, to be sure but
scattered along life’s pathway, the good they do is
inconceivable.  Stevie had that type of smile.  He
stood up for his fellow man, rooted for the
underdog, and the courage of his conviction was
his most favorable attribute.  At a young age he
knew that those who bring sunshine to the lives of
others cannot keep it from themselves.  My
brother, Stevie had a true kindness that came
without thought nor desiring anything in return.
His kindness was a special gift:  It was a language
which the deaf could hear and the blind could see.

When that kindness left this earth in the form of
Stevie, I fell to pieces.  A shattered dream that
would never be.  A heart that would never mend.

I would truly like to encourage those grieving,
depressed and in despair that God can heal a
broken heart, you just have to give him all the
pieces.  Sometimes we are so busy adding up our
troubles that we forget to count our blessings.  We
should remember the time we had, take stock in
what is still undone, and the testimony that will
come from this trial.  There are times you may feel
“I can’t possibly go on”.  Have faith and know that
your job is to care for the possible and trust God
for the impossible.  There are times when the Lord
calms the storm, there are times He lets the storm
rage and calms His child.
