After the brutal death of my son, I felt as though my entire world had been shipwrecked and shattered into pieces. I had no hope for the future and no sense of purpose. There was no one to whom I could go and no place where I could find peace. In my solitude, I realized that the one and only direction to which I could turn toward, was God. It was God alone that brought me out of darkness into the light. God impregnated me with the idea and the vision to form an organization that could bring hope to youth and hurting individuals. God created RAY for the purpose of supporting and reclaiming youth, and to minister to those individuals who are feeling hopeless and helpless. Over the past fifteen years RAY has assisted hundreds of youth and adults through its many programs. i.e., James Mix & Sean Cater Scholarship Program, The Annual College Orientation Forum, Grief and Loss Ministry, Youth Early Intervention Program and the RAY of Hope Grief & Loss Support Group.. God’s ability to restore life after horrendous pain is beyond human comprehension. However, from my own personal journey, I know that pain can become the vehicle by which God performs great miracles. The birth of RAY has been, and continues to be a miracle. |
| RAY is totally run on the backs of scores of committed and dedicated volunteers, who give unselfishly of their time, talents and expertise. Volunteers have made RAY an organization of which God and man can be proud. The efforts of many have moved this organization beyond anyone’s expectations. From the bottom of my heart, I thank God for bringing together such a dynamic and focused group of individuals, that I lovingly refer to as the “RAY Family.” My Deepest Thanks to: The Board of Directors, Advisory Board, Committees, Scholarship Partners, Supporters and Friends. Together, we are: Ensuring a Better Tomorrow by Reclaiming Youth Today! |
